

Phyllis A. Gidley, 98, of Carmel, Indiana, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024. Born in South Whitley, Indiana, she worked for U.S. Rubber in Fort Wayne, where she met her husband, Wilbur Gidley, Jr. She and her husband started a family and lived in Fort Wayne for many years. They were long time members of St. John’s United Church of Christ. After her children were older, she worked for Fort Wayne Community Schools at Central High School, Wayne High School, Anthis Career Center, then retiring as the Treasurer at Snider High School. She was known for her beautiful singing voice, singing at church and in choirs. She was a loving advocate, friend, and advisor for her children and grandchildren and a loyal follower of Jesus Christ. Surviving are her sons, Philip (Kristine) Gidley of Westfield, Indiana, James Gidley of Westfield, and Thomas (Jan) Gidley of Fort Wayne. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Her parents and her husband, Wilbur preceded her in death. A brief memorial service will be held at 12:30 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at her graveside at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 West Main Street, Fort Wayne. Calling will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Road, Fort Wayne.
