

Dr. Reynaldo Catublas “Doc” Rodriguez, 86, of Fort Wayne, passed on to be with our Lord on 10 January, 2013. Doc was born 10 June, 1927, in Cuyo, Palawan, Philippines. As a teenager, he was a member of the Philippine Army and fought during WWII. Shortly after, he earned his B.S. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of the Philippines – Los Baños. Doc was a member of the UP Beta Sigma Fraternity. While at UP-LB, he met Pura Mostacho Manzanilla, who also graduated from UP-LB, with B.S. in Nursing. They were married in 1955. He was granted a sabbatical to Australia in 1961.Through a diplomatic scholarship, he received his Master’s Degree at Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, in 1963. Doc published his Doctoral Dissertation and received his Doctorate Degree at the Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI in 1969. For 30 years, Doc was a teacher of Horticulture with the Fort Wayne Community Schools, where he was involved with the Future Farmers of America and 4H. He also taught Horticulture for several years at IPFW. Doc is preceded in death by his parents, Irenio and Crecensia Cervantes Rodriguez and in-laws, Gen. Bincente and Lutgarda Mostacho Manzanilla, one stillborn child, and his beloved bride, Pura. He is survived by his children: Rose Rodriguez; Rachelle Rodriguez; Reynolds Rodriguez and his children, Chase and Samantha, of Fort Wayne; Reina R. Sullivan (Patrick) of Hawai’i; Riza Marie R. Campbell and son James Reynaldo of Anacortes, WA; Rhoda R. Hurtsellers and children Joseph Reynaldo and Nikki, and Micah Reynaldo McComish, Doc’s Great-Grandson, of Toledo, OH; Sponsored daughter, Jamrieng Grimes (Kevin), and children Jonathan, Deborah and Amanda, of Columbia, SC. Memorial: Saturday, 19 Jan. at 3:30pm at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 ST. Joe Rd, Ft. Wayne, IN. Officiated by: The Rev. Msgr. John Kuzmich.
