Rita R. Kiefer, 87, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on April 12, 1929 in Fort Wayne, she was a daughter of the late Alfred and Ruth Leis. Rita was a homemaker and member of Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. An avid reader, she also enjoyed jigsaw-puzzles, cross-stitching and eating at McDonalds. She is survived by her children, Bob (Carol) Kiefer of Auburn and Carolyn (Mike) McMaken of Harlan; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Kiefer; step-mother, Mary Leis; and sister & brother-in-law, Betty (Dave) Pomeroy. Funeral Service will be 11am on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 7819 Decatur Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Calling will also be 4-7pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at Hockemeyer and Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne. Entombment will be at Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne. Memorials may be made to the church.
