

Robert Edward Gerdom, 94, of Fort Wayne, passed away on December 2, 2025 at Kingston Care Center. Born March 18, 1931 in Fort Wayne, he was a son of the late Edward H. and Virginia (Christman) Gerdom. After graduating Central High School, Robert proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at GE, where he met the love of his life, the late Anna M. (Hine) Gerdom. He later became a Letter Carrier at the United States Postal Service, from which he retired after 38 years of service. A beloved father, Robert was a hard worker and great provider having held various positions as a landlord, caddy with Orchard Ridge Country Club, life insurance salesman with Catholic Order of Foresters, chief ranger for Summit City Court, and having worked at NAPA auto parts after retirement. He was a charter member with St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and member of St. Vincent Depaul Society, Catholic Order of Foresters, National Association of Letter Carriers, National Association of Retired Federal Employees (NARFE), and Disabled American Veterans (DAV). An avid reader, he also enjoyed traveling to North Fort Myers, Florida, with his wife, taking camping trips with his sons, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his children, Michael R. Gerdom, Stephen R. Gerdom, Laura A. (Bill) Watercutter, Susan A. Lansaw, Linda A. (Kevin) Conrad, David (Mary Beth) Gerdom, and Mary Taylor; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his son Edward R. Gerdom; son-in-law, Michael Lansaw; and sisters, Marjorie Schrader, Mildred Gerdom, and Mary Gerdom. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30am on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 4916 Trier Rd., Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. Father Tom Shoemaker officiating. Calling will also be from 2-4 & 6-8 pm on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Fort Wayne.
