Obituary of Royce F. Evans
Royce Floyd Evans, 87, of Fort Wayne, Indiana went home to his Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2024. Royce was born July 6,1936, in Howard, New York. After graduation from Canisteo Central School in Canisteo, New York, he came to Fort Wayne to enroll at Indiana Tech. Always one to lend a hand, by the end of his first year at Indiana Tech he was already tutoring fellow students in math. Upon graduation from Indiana Tech, Royce was employed by Magnavox. A short time later he purchased property in New Haven and founded New Haven Television. Later he launched Telequick, a national television repair business. Inventive and a natural salesman, Royce also sold archery equipment (most of which he designed and built), photos, furniture, cars, and health products. Late in his career he built automated tennis machines that were used worldwide. Royce married JoEllen Yohey on October 1, 1955. They were an inseparable team until she preceded him into Glory on April 1, 2021. Royce was also predeceased by his father, Floyd Evans; by his mother, Mona (Northrup) Evans Ashbaugh; by a brother, Burton Evans; and by a sister, Gail Hodge. He is survived by one sister, Arlene Maine of Canisteo, New York; by three daughters, Cheryl (Thayer) Salisbury of Matsapha, Eswatini, Sandra (Robert) McCurdy of Fort Wayne, and Kelly Jo (Daniel) Ealey of Fort Wayne. Also left to remember him are eleven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild. Memorial service will be 11:00 am on Saturday, May 18, 2024 at East Allen County Church of Christ, 3800 Minnich Road, New Haven, Indiana 46774 with a gathering of family and friends one hour prior.
