

Russell E. Ransom, passed at home on Saturday, December 12, 2020, after 93 years. Born in 1927, he was the second of six and spent his early years on the farm in Perry County, Indiana. The family relocated to Indianapolis, where Russell graduated from Warren Central in 1946. After six years a Marine, Sgt. Ransom returned to Indianapolis with his wife Mary Anne(Rexroth-d.2005) and two sons. As Russell pursued a rewarding business career, the family grew to six and moved to Carmel where Russell volunteered in local civic activities: most notable being a Boy Scout pack leader, basketball coach, member of Carmel Dad’s Club and President of the Carmel town board. In 1969, Russell moved to Huntington/Fort Wayne area and pursued various new business opportunities and continued to volunteer in civic organizations. Russell loved sports and playing games and music! He was preceded in death by his wife Mary A. Ransom, survived by his sons and daughter, Jerry L. Ransom(Vicki Rice-Ransom) R. Dean Ransom(Kyle Curry-Ransom), C. Jay Ransom, and Christine A. Wilcox(Jamie Wilcox), his sister Wanda Gillman and brother Cedric Ransom(Virginia ), 17 grandchildren and 35+ great children. Celebration of life by family at a later date. Private burial in Highland Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Wounded Warriors Project.
