

Shirley May Bohner, 89, of Fort Wayne, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024. Shirley was born to the late Henry F. and Margaret L. (Wefel) Nahrwold. She enjoyed the kitchen table, be it cards (euchre, bolivia, canasta, Uno, yahtzee, etc) or making a mess baking or canning. A ringer and willing sub for team bowling or dartball, she was active participant. Shirley enjoyed spectator sports especially the Olympics, professional tennis, figure skating and bowling. She had a love of fabrics and creating. Shirley created afghans, clothes for dolls and babies, cross-stitched quilts and an odd wedding dress or tweak here and there. Many will remember her small garden and those tomatoes. She also liked getting her hands dirty at Voigt's sauerkraut supper and GermanFest. Shirley is survived by her son, Rex Bohner; grandchildren, Audrey (Lantz) Kulp, Alex Bruick, and Anna Bruick; and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in her passing by her husband, Donald C.D. Bohner; parents; daughter, Becky Bruick; brothers, Richard, James, and Robert Nahrwold; and sister, Bonnie Fowler. A funeral service for Shirley will be held at at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St Joe Road, Fort Wayne, IN 46835, on Monday, January 29, 2024 at 1:00 pm with visitation beginning at 11:00 am.
