
Terry served in the U.S. Army for six years until he was honorably discharged. During his working years, he spent time at International Harvester as well as farming. He later worked at Strebig Construction until retirement.
Terry was passionate about woodworking and construction. He could often be found in his workshop, which he referred to as a shed. He enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. Terry loved IU Basketball and NASCAR racing. He enjoyed going to NASCAR events with the guys as well.
Terry and Linda had a ritual of morning breakfast at Mr. Coney which will be fondly remembered. Terry was also incredibly fond of his dearest pet, Jack, the one eyed cat. To pass the time, he could be found watching the game show chanel, Family Feud, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune were his favorites.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Spade; children, Randee (Tom) Salisbury, Renee (Charlie) Ray, Rick Spade, Brad (Rita) Chester, Brian (Kris) Chester and Brent Chester; grandchildren, Dustin Haycox, Jason Salisbury, Brad (Brittney) Salisbury, Nick Spade, Brett Ray, Jayden Chester, Maddix Flaugh, Taylor Kennedy, Bailey Christlieb; eight great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jerry Spade, Mark Spade and Mike (Cindy) Spade.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Robbin Spade; granddaughters, Samantha Ray and Danyelle Flaugh; and sister-in-law, Kay Spade.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Hockemeyer & Miller Funeral Home, 6131 St. Joe Rd., Ft. Wayne, IN 46845.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 at 11 am at Lindenwood Cemetery, 2324 W Main St, Fort Wayne, IN 46808.
Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Fort Wayne or Shepherd's House.
