Willie E. Manning

Willie E. Manning was born Wednesday, July 21, 1951, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Willie R. and Etta née Steel Manning. He was born anew in the waters of Holy Baptism and later affirmed that baptismal grace in the rite of confirmation at Zion Lutheran Church, Fort Wayne, by Pastor Jerrold Nichols. On November 15, 2001, Willie married Rose Ladd. They were faithful to their promises until Willie’s death parted them. Willie had two daughters from a previous marriage, Latrivia Manning and Michelle Davis.

Willie graduated from Zion Lutheran School and Central High School. He worked for various employers, including Fort Wayne Community Schools, Lutheran Hospital, and Texas Roadhouse, finally retiring in 2017. Willie is survived by his wife Rose; daughters Latrivia Manning of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Michelle Davis of Fort Wayne, Indiana, stepdaughters Theresa (Darrell) Trotter, Michelle Ladd, and Jennifer Ladd, all of Fort Wayne; brothers Darrell (Angela) Manning and Steven Manning, both of Fort Wayne, and Dennis Manning of Lafayette, Indiana; and sisters Dorothy Rasheed and Beverly Davis both of Fort Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister Gail Gorman. Willie abided in the faith to the end of his earthly life as a member of Zion Lutheran Church, confessing his trust in his Lord Jesus Christ, hearing God’s Holy Word, and partaking of the Holy Sacrament. Willie was called home to his Savior on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, living 71 years, 5 months, and 29 days on earth, and alive in Christ forever!
