

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Benjamin “Ben” Montoya, who peacefully passed away on June 5, 2026, his 92nd birthday. Born on June 5, 1934, to Felix and Francis Montoya, Ben lived a life marked by hard work, dedication, and a deep love for family and friends.
Ben was preceded in death by his parents and many of his brother and sisters. During his long and meaningful life, he earned the respect and admiration of all who knew him through his kindness, sense of humor, wisdom, and steadfast determination.
A lifelong worker, Ben spent many years as a rancher, custodian, locksmith, and in various other occupations. He believed in staying productive and took great pride in working with his hands. His woodworking talents produced countless benches, wishing wells, windmills, and other handcrafted projects that will continue to be enjoyed by those he loved. In his free time, Ben enjoyed fishing, camping, and traveling in his camper, always appreciating the beauty of the outdoors and the adventures of the open road.
Ben was born and raised in Troy, near Kim, Colorado, and spent most of his life in Fountain, Colorado, where he raised a family, and formed lasting relationships with friends and family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years, Cordilia Montoya; his sister, Barbara; his children, Ben, Gerri, Wes, and Karen; his grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will cherish his memory and miss him dearly.
Visitation for family and friends will be held at St. Dominic Catholic Church on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at 9:30am, with Rosary to follow at 10:30am, and Mass at 11am. Burial will follow at Fountain Fairview Cemetery in Fountain, Colorado.
