Bruna Maria Naddes, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025, at the age of 91. Bruna was born September 22, 1933, in Trieste, Italy, and lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family and community.
Bruna's early years were marked by the challenges of World War II. Despite the hardships, she and her family showed incredible resilience and strength, surviving through the difficult times together. The stories she shared of their survival were a testament to her unwavering spirit and determination.
In the 1950s, Bruna met a United States soldier, Joseph R. Naddes, who was part of the Trieste United States Troops (TRUST). It wasn't love at first sight for Bruna, but eventually she fell in love with Joseph. They married in Trieste on December 29, 1956, beginning a beautiful journey together.
After they were married, Bruna and Joseph lived in La Mirada, California, before eventually moving to Colorado Springs, CO. Wherever they went, Bruna's warmth and kindness touched the hearts of those around her.
After her Husband's passing on November 5, 1999, Bruna found solace in walking everywhere. She enjoyed not driving and would walk to the grocery store, carrying her groceries herself. People often offered her a ride, but she preferred to walk and maintained her independence.
Bruna was also predeceased by her sister, Silvana Scher, on January 18, 2004, and her sister, Iolanda Russell, on May 23, 2022.
Bruna leaves behind a loving family, her daughters Lisa Yoder (Michael) of Arizona and Tina Lightfoot (Lincoln) of Colorado; her grandchildren Steven Yoder and Kristina Yoder (Dylan) of Arizona; her great-grandchildren Lilly and Layla of Arizona; her niece Patricia Hansen (Mike) of Colorado; and her great-nephews Justin (Lindsey), Jeff, and Scott (Georgia).
Throughout her life, Bruna touched the hearts of many with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering spirit. She was known for her warmth, her passion for helping others, and her ability to bring joy to everyone around her.
In the words of her late uncle, “Brevi Nel Gioir, Lunghi Nel Soffrir” meaning “Laughter is short, suffering is long”, a sentiment that is inscribed on a hospital wall back in Trieste, Italy, dating back to 1851.
Bruna’s legacy lives on through her children, grandchildren, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
A private family service will be held in her honor.
