Earl Crews

Earl Gene Crews was born on October 24, 1933 in Sampson, Alabama to John and Buna Herring Crews. He died on Saturday, April 30, 2011. Earl served in the US Army for four years and in the Air Force for seven years. After leaving the military, Earl worked as an Accountant for John Hancock Insurance Company in Albuquerque, NM. Earl was married to Billie Ruth Ashby. After her death, Earl retired from John Hancock, moved to Colorado Springs, and married Mary Wright Fowler.

Earl loved sports, especially the Rockies and Broncos, and fishing. He also enjoyed attending Grace Pointe Baptist Church in Security and spending time at the Fountain Valley Senior Center where he had many friends.

Earl was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Voncile Weeks, his first wife Billie Ruth Ashby, and a step-son Marc Bristol. He is survived by his wife, Mary, sisters Bernice Barnes and Juanita Crews of Panama City, FL; sons Robert Crews and Richard Crews (Kelly) of Albuquerque, and Steve Fowler of Colorado Springs; grandchildren Robert Earl Crews, Marc Crews, and Cheyenne Crews of Albuquerque, Kim Fowler of Security and Leslee Fowler (Gabe Cooley) of Fountain; great-grandsons Christian Cooley of Fountain and Demarie Wesley of Security; and many nieces and nephews. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He was loved and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Services will be held on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S US 85-87,
