Edwin Henry Beck, 101, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on September 19, 2026. Born February 8, 1925, in Annville, Edwin lived a long life marked by steadfast service, quiet strength, and a deep devotion to others.
Edwin attended grade school in Fontana, Pennsylvania, where he had the same teacher for all eight years—an early chapter that helped shape the steady, patient spirit so many came to know. He later attended Hershey High School.
His life of service was defined by what he called “two wars and a prison camp.” Edwin enlisted in the Army in 1943 and deployed to the European Theater with the 106th Infantry Division. He was captured at the Battle of the Bulge on December 16, 1944, and escaped the German Prison Camp—an enduring testament to his resilience and courage. After returning home to finish high school, he enlisted in the Army Reserves. Following graduation, he returned to full-time active duty and served in the 1st Cavalry Division, continuing a career distinguished by hard work, loyalty, and an unwavering sense of duty. He retired from the Army in 1971.
On July 4, 1961, Edwin married his wife, Fay. While stationed in Italy, they welcomed Linda and Karl. After returning to the United States, they had Peggy. Following Edwin’s retirement from the Army, they had Daniel. Throughout his life, Edwin remained devoted and faithful to his family, offering a steady presence grounded in kindness, honesty, and thoughtful care.
In quieter moments, Edwin found contentment outdoors. If the weather permitted, you would find Ed fishing—and, as those close to him knew well, the weather was never too bad for fishing. In later years, he was not as adventurous as he grew older, yet his gentle spirit and enduring appreciation for simple joys remained.
Edwin also gave of himself in ways that did not seek recognition. He counseled younger soldiers and advocated for those suffering from PTSD, offering compassion, wisdom, and a selfless willingness to stand beside others when it mattered most. He is remembered for his readiness to help anyone, at any time, in any way he could.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Pikes Peak Hospice and Palliative Care—the staff and nurses—for their care and support. Appreciation is also extended to the American Legion, VFW, Military Order of the Cooties, Order of the Purple Heart, Special Forces Society of Colorado Springs, Fort Carson, Peterson Space Force Base, Schriever Space Force Base, and Buckley Space Force Base. Edwin also wished he could have thanked the community and all the people across the country that sent him get well cards.
Visitation will be held at Dove Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 S. US HWY 85/87, Fountain, CO 80817, on October 6, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

Edwin’s enduring encouragement—offered with the quiet conviction of a man who had seen much and still chose hope—remains with all who loved him: “Don’t give up, better days are coming.”
