My heart is broken.  I do not have words.

  I know deep within my soul there is a woman in heaven who misses her family yet is so excited to be in the presence of the Lord.  She is surrounded by love and feels no pain or sorrow.  I know she is smiling today, she is also in the presence of someone else she loved for so many years.  

This wonderful woman sat with me as I went through the most difficult period of my life.  I would imagine one of the most difficult times in her life as well.  She spent so much time getting to know me as I got to know her.  I only wish I could have blessed her as much as she blessed me.

Grandma,  “The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you,
And give you peace.” Numbers 6: 24-26

So sorry for your loss. God is watching over you as he excepts her into his kingdom. God speed Emma. Prayers going out to your family in this sad time..

I have known Grandma Emma since 1994. We connected right away. Our names… Emma Lee and Emily, but she said.. "Call me Sam".  Sam was a sweet little fire cracker that I learned to love very quickly. She welcomed me from the beginning with open arms. I remember visiting her in St. Louis when we moved there for graduate school. There was always  interesting food smells from the cultural mix of people who lived in the building she managed. As soon as we got in the door of her apartment she started fussing over us. I would see her  buzzing around the kitchen frying up some bacon and eggs, talking, smoking, and cooking all at the same time!  If she couldn't make us breakfast it would be a sandwich with white bread, soda and puffy Cheetos.  She loved her coffee too…thats one things we could both do for hours.. Sit and drink coffee. There was no one like Sam! Wlhile she was small in size she probably had the biggest most generous heart in the world! She would do anything for you if she could. I remember playing games with my own grandma growing up. I missed my Grandparents so much. It was nice to have a new grandma in my life.  It really made being away from home much easier. She loved her scrabble! Im not the best with spelling so I always hesitated to play but I jumped in now and then and enjoyed it. It was hard to get her to hold still for 2 seconds so with scrabble you got her attention in one place for a while. :)  She had a way of making people feel special. I always think about how she did that and try to emulate that in my life.  I know if I could have seen her again, we would have held each others hand and encouraged each other.  I know she went through so much pain and hurt in her life and she survived it with more vigor then most people. She was a survivor! I admire this mighty little lady very much and will never forget the season of life in which she was such a blessing to me. Love you SAM!

My heart aches as I read this.  I knew her as Sam, and she was one of the most kind and generous women I have ever met, and I miss her dearly.  Although I hadn't spoken to her in many years, I thought of her often, and I will never forget her.  My thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.  I take comfort in knowing that she is at peace and see her as one of the guardian angels watching over all of us now.
