George E. Baker April 11, 1935 – December 10, 2013 George E. Baker passed peacefully in his home in Fountain, on December 10, 2013. He was born April 11, 1935 to John Baker and Ivy (Haskins) at his parent homestead in Hanover where he lived till his teen’s then move to Fountain with his parents. He married his wife (Mary Seymour) October 8, 1952 and lived in the Fountain area till his death. He retired from the Colorado State Highway Department. George was also a Volunteer Fireman for Fountain. He owned the Lazy F-Y café and the Baker & Baker Custom Slaughter. He bought hogs for pig in sack slaughter plant and cattle for Franks Market in Pueblo until his health started failing then turned the slaughter business over to his son. George, continued going to numerous auctions until he could no longer drive.

He is survived by his Wife, Mary (Seymour) Baker, Son Dwane (Cindy) his daughters Marsha (Earl Taylor) Diana (James Anderson) Lillian (Ken Contreras) 31 grandchildren, 45 great –grandchildren, 5 great-great –grandchildren, (2 in the oven), Sister, Eva Degroot, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death were his parents, 6 sisters, 3 brothers and 1 great-granddaughter.

Memorial Contributions to Hanover Fire Department, and Fountain Valley Historical Society.

Memorial Service will be Tuesday, December 17, at 1:00 pm at Hanover Fire Station #2, at 13325 Old Pueblo Rd, Hanover.

I will miss Uncle George. I will miss his smile & his sense of humor.
A memory I will always have is when both my Grandpa and Uncle George were at the Calhan sale barn when I was so young.
