

Gertrude Westman passed away peacefully in Denver, Colorado, on August 28, 2026, at the age of 78, leaving behind a rich legacy of love, creativity, and cherished memories. Born in Austria, Gertrude brought warmth, dedication, and vibrant energy to everything she did. She proudly spent 29 years bringing hospitality and joy to others through her work at the Broadmoor Hotel.
Gertrude lived life to the fullest through her favorite passions. Whether she was nurturing her beautiful garden, creating works of art through painting and needlepoint, or finding peace while fishing, her hands and heart were always active. Above all she found her greatest happiness in the company of her big, loving family and dear friends.
Gertrude was reunited in peace with her parents, Alexander and Elsa Gottselig; her sister, Hildegard Ring; and her son Robert Yakich.
Her vibrant spirit lives on through her devoted family: husband Robert J. Westman; children and their spouses Alex and Angela Westman, Andy and Michelle Westman, Petra Maucher and Silvio Niedtner, Thomas and Valerie Yakich, and Karin and Paul Gissinger; grandchildren Emma, Alexa, Damion, Masson, Lexus, Andreas, Victoria, Ariana, Dominique, Avery, Natalie, Vanessa, Sabrina, and Patrick; and her siblings Waltraud Ring and Rodey Gottselig. She is also celebrated and remembered by her cherished friends Lee Brockett, Margalit Streets, Pela, and Margot.
