Glenn Dale Stewart, 76, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away on June 2, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs. He was born on July 25, 1937 in St. Louis, MO to Alva and Ruth (Davis) Stewart. He is preceded in death by both his parents and his wife of 50 years, Nancy Lee Stewart.
Glenn spent his first 24 years in the St. Louis area. He graduated from Dupo Community High School (Dupo, IL) in 1957 in the National Honor Society. He went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University in 1961 with a major in Social Field Studies including a teaching certificate.
Glenn spent the next 20 years in the US Army retiring as an E-7 Sergeant First Class. During his tenure he completed a short tour of Vietnam. While he was stationed in Germany, he and Nancy adopted two children (Jon and Alicia) and then had one son naturally (Nathan). Upon retirement, he settled in Fountain, CO where he lived for 33 years.
Glenn completed a second career of 15 years involving computer-based training in the Air Force. During his tenure he continued his education at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. He majored in
Anthropology and Geography 1985.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and was very involved in both the Iris Society and the Botanicials Society. He loved his dogs, trips to the mountains and team sports.
Most of all, he loved his family and made their provisions and care his priority.
He is survived by his younger siblings (Charles Stewart and Sandy Heueel) both of St. Charles ,MO his son Jon (Stella) Stewart of Fountain, CO, daughter (Alica Stewart of Loveland, CO and son Nathan Stewart of Colorado Springs, CO two grandchildren, Jonathan Stewart Jr & Shawnae Stewart a great-grandson, Dovovan Stewart and a Great Granddaughter Zoey Stewart along with a large extended family of 3 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
