Gregory F Saweikis

April 26, 1952February 2, 2019

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gregory F. Saweikis, loving husband, father and Bampa, February 2, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. Greg was a huge car enthusiaist and customizer, spending hours making his cars special and unique. He was also an accomplished artist doing beautiful drawings, air brush work and pottery. Greg was a life long animal lover who trained his Golden Retrievers in obedience and agility. His best little buddy, Cinder, brought him great joy in his last year. He could also fix anything - sometimes with a few parts left over. He was born in New Castle, PA, on April 26, 1952, to Frank and Betty Saweikis. He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy, children Rachel and Chad (Tina) and grandchildren Taylor (Dyllan) Smith and Cameron Koole. He is also survived by his father, Francis J. Saweikis, sisters Susan (Roger) Depo and Marcy Baugh. Greg was the Purchasing Director for Pueblo West Metropolitan District for 34 years retiring in 2017. A celebration of Greg's life will be held at Pueblo West Fire Station #3, 729 E Gold Dr., Pueblo West, CO 81007 on Monday, February 18, 2019 beginning at 10:00 am. Donations in Greg's name can be made to one of his favorite places, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Greg was a good friend during high school together many years ago. He was part of a circle of people who made my life a little brighter when a lot of what was happening to me was pretty dark. I treasure those memories, and offer my heartfelt sympathy to Peg and Sue, both of whom I remember fondly, and wish the best to all the rest of the family. Picture from one of our yearbooks.
