

Harold David Thompson went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 13th, 2013 surrounded by his family at home in Fountain, Colorado. Harold was born August 09, 1933 in Equality, Gallatin County, Illinois to Lyle Edward Thompson Sr. and Mattie Sue Daily Thompson. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Ruth Marlene Thompson, son, David Thompson, daughter, Evelyn (Calvin) Evans, two brothers, Ted Thompson and Monte Thompson and two grandchildren, Travis and Michelle Evans.
Harold served his country honorably in the Army for twenty years and then went to work as a plumber. Harold was a strength in the community, serving two terms as Mayor of the City of Fountain and involved in numerous organizations, including serving on Fountain City council, President of the Lower Fountain Metropolitan Sewage Disposal District who recently recognized his years of dedicated service by naming the Harold D. Thompson Water Reclamation Facility after him. Harold also served on the Board of Directors for the Fountain Sanitation District for 23 years and was recently appointed to the Board for the Special District Association in Denver, Colorado. He enjoyed serving his community and believed that you need to be involved in order to make a difference.
Harold’s family loves him greatly and misses him, they are grateful for the full life that he lived and the values that he stood for.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 25, 2013, at Pikes Peak Christian Church, 4955 Bradley Road, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80911.The family requests that memorial donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice Foundation, 2250 Tenderfoot Hill Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado 80906.
