Irona Eleanor (Riley) Ross

Mrs. Irona Eleanor Ross, 98, of Colorado Springs, Colorado died August 30, 2011 in a Colorado Springs Nursing Home.

Irona was born in Clearwater, Nebraska on July 2, 1913, the second child of ten born to Alva R and Hazel E (Hopkins) Riley. She was raised in and around the Valentine, Nebraska area during her younger years.

She was united in marriage to Harry Warren Canaday on 16 Dec. 1933 in Valentine, Nebraska.

To this union was born four children, Ronald W, Gerald L, Harold L, and Betty L..

They resided in Tilford, South Dakota for some time and later moved to Wisconsin where the family separated due to family hardships.

On May 1, 1969 Irona married Clarence R. Ross. They resided in Riverside, California until Mr. Ross’s Death in 1992.

Due to poor health she moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado to be with her son Harold and family.

She was preceded in death by her sons Ronald, Gerald and daughter Betty, her parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include three brothers, Charles H Riley (Lois) of Valentine, Nebraska, Douglas W Riley (Dorothy) of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Donald L Riley (Pat) of Norfolk, Nebraska. One son Harold L Canaday (Wilma) of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Seventeen grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren and numerous other relatives . Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, September 4, 2011 at Dove Witt Funeral Home, Fountain, Colorado with services to follow in the Dove Witt Chapel at 2 p.m.

Interment to be held at a later date at Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeview, South Dakota.
