Dad,
We celebrated your life today.  It was a very emotional and beautiful ceremony.  Mr. King and Mrs. Pollard spoke some very kind and emotional words about you.  I wrote you a letter and the Chaplain had to read it for me because I never would have made it through without sobbing.
The reception after was very nice and I was able to meet and talk with people that you had worked with, and they had nothing but great memories of you.
We then proceeded to Pikes Peak National Cemetery, where you were honored with full military honors along with the ringing 7 times of The Honor Bell.  I was presented with the American flag, and that is something I will always cherish.
The ceremony ended with you being placed next to Mom.  Which at that time the wind picked up and it started raining.
This was a very emotional day and it seemed to make everything so final.  I will miss you for the rest of my life.  I was so lucky to have a father like you and I will love you for the rest of my life.

First met Jim in October 1987 when I became a member of the 302nd AW and I quickly found out what a GDR meant to Jim.  A childhood scent would waft through the training office, but I could never place the aroma until Jim finally said that he was using Jergen's cherry almond lotion.  That was it, my dad, also a Jim, used it.  Jim had so many similarities to my own dad that it was always comfortable to be around him.  Both did woodwork, both enjoyed cars, both loved their families, both were veterans.  I enjoyed always seeing Jim every month for UTAs and then for the monthly luncheons.  Then there were the car shows and football games at Memorial Park for our kids and Jim and Pat's grandchildren.  Everywhere we went, Jim and Pat were there for some reason.  Pat was always his better half and we all missed her when she parted.  I guess I won't be seeing either Jim, Pat, or the Avanti at the car shows any more, but I will be thinking of them.

When I think of Grandpa, one word comes to mind, Integrity. He was a man of the highest caliber, with a strong moral compass that guided him in all of his dealings. He was always there to listen to, and advise you on politics, the state of the country, or even your latest job woes. He lived through the trauma of losing his son, and being unable to save him, and also through the devastating loss of Grandma, who had been his loyal partner for 60 years. All major events stuck with him and became threads woven into the tapestry of his life. To say that he'll be missed, is a huge understatement, as a part of our hearts went with him. Until we meet again, may you be surrounded with Peace and Love, and enjoying Grandma's and Jay's company once again. As always, Amy (daughter -in-law)

We will always have fond memories of Jim and was in contact with him frequently. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and all the family. May God Bless him.

My heart breaks. Jim has been a friend since we first met in May 1958 - he was my first supervisor for a short period. We followed each other off and on throughout all these years. When needed, Jim was always there to help. Jobs were scarce when I retired. Jim was instrumental in getting us temporary quarters and me a job in the medical clinic reserve unit. I could write a book of the things we have done together over these years. Playing softball that he played and coached - winning trophies. He also coached flag football. I thank God he was there to take me to the hospital clinic when I was knocked out and had no idea where I was at. Jim was a master with wood work. We get a reminder of his great workmanship from several rooms in our house to our outside mailbox. I always enjoyed our golf outings. Most games he out did me. My one regret is COVID19 and my health issue pretty much all of 2022,  that curbed our getting together. Our lives was/is improved just knowing and enjoying each others families over these years. God Bless you Jim - my best friend. Loved you as a brother.

I was a coworker and golf partner of Jim for years. He and Pat were fabulous friends.
His gruff exterior to some, opened to the most caring and loving man you have ever known.
Few passings will affect me as deeply as this. I am truly saddened.

Jim was one of our late son, Bob, favorite people and visited him often after Jay's passing.  We looked forward to his Christmas card every year and know he is with the risen Lord.  May the peace of the Lord be with him and all his family knowing he will deeply missed


My condolences and prayers go out to the family. I work with Jim at the 302d. He was a great person.  Enjoyed working with him. Rest In Peace Jim.
