“ Her children arise and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28
Jane Leonard Green Atkinson went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
December 25th, 2020 from the comfort of her own home. She was born May 1st, 1936 to Ralph
and Peg Leonard in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She grew up in Fountain, Colorado with her
siblings Bill, Joyce, and Ginny, graduating from Fountain Fort Carson High School.
In 1954, she married Joe Dickens, the father of her three children, Dawn, Jacy, and
Andy. They later divorced. She married Hugh Green in 1968 who also became a beloved father
to her children. They were happily married 28 years until his passing in 1996. Five years later,
she married Keith Atkinson whom she remained with until her death.
Jane worked a variety of jobs throughout her life, but retired from the Colorado Springs
Library District after 10 years serving the community. She loved the western lifestyle and rodeo,
especially barrel racing. Her passion for rodeo carried on to her children and grandchildren.
Most importantly, Jane loved Jesus with all of her heart and wanted everyone to have a
close relationship with Him like she did. She loved to pray and saw it as her life's mission to pray
for ministries around the world and particularly within the rodeo world.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents and first two husbands. She is survived by
her husband, Keith; children, Dawn (Randy) Long, Jacy (Kim) Dickens, and Andy (Tami)
Dickens; grandchildren, Faith (Nate) Hanan, Zeke Long, Brianna Dickens, Spencer Dickens,
and Sara Dickens; great-grandchildren, Aliyah and Kahill Hanan; siblings, Bill Leonard, Joyce
(Gary) Rector, and Ginny Daniels; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
The memorial celebration of Jane’s life will be held at Latigo Trails Equestrian Center,
13710 Halleluiah Trail, Elbert, CO 80106, on Thursday, December 31st, at 12:00 pm.
