I served with the Chief in Vietnam 1967-1968, he was always there for us. It was great to see him at the reunions and will certainly be missed by many.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Matt and all his family.

Thank you Chief.

I’m so sorry to hear about Joe. I met Joe in Seattle in 2012 at the Charlie Battery reunion. I knew right away he had a deep love for his brothers of Charlie Battery. Through the last few years I have gotten to know a man of great character with a zest for life that was witty and fun to be around He had a love beyond measures for his family and if you were Joe’s friends you knew you had a great bond of comradery with him. He loved the men he served with. Go rest high on that mountain Joe. We will see you again.

I am so sorry to hear of the loss of Joe. He had a special place in my heart. Enjoyed conversations with him and surprising him with a bit of a birthday party and some "jokester" gifts at a Reunion a number of years ago (2011). In fact, as I recall, I don't believe Joe even got to taste the cake. Joe had a great laugh. Miss you, Joe

I met Joe when I was drafted into the army as a kid, 1966-1968 (Fort Hood and Vietnam) and in my time knowing Joe you couldn’t find a better leader of men. I went from a kid to a man.
Thanks Joe!
You will be missed at our reunions.
Olive and I send our condolences to Matt and the family.

I served with Joe in Charlie Battery between April 1967 and February 1968 at Fort Hood, Texas and in Vietnam.
I never got to know him real well during that time, but I got to meet him again and get to know him better during the April 2014 reunion in Charleston, South Carolina.
My sincere sympathy goes out to his family.

Prayers and support to Matt and the other family members. Joe was a very special person. I had the honor of serving with Joe in 1967-68 in Vietnam and I held him in the highest respect as he was proud or his country and his service to his country. Have always enjoyed talking with him over the past years and seeing him annually at our reunions.
He will be greatly missed by many but especially by his family and the boys of Charlie Battery.
