

Judith (Judi) Stoltz Sims passed away peacefully on August 16, 2023, at 81 years old, in Colorado Springs, after a long battle with Dementia. There will be no service at this time. Arrangements are with Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, Fountain, Colorado.
Judi was born to Frances Carter Stoltz and George F. Stoltz, on December 12, 1941, in Richmond, VA. Judi married the late Ret SFC H. Dale Sims on June 2, 1962, in Barnwell, SC. Judi and Dale had two children, Lisa and Brian. The family moved to many military stations, Fort Bragg, NC; Fort Eustis, VA; Fairfield, CT; France, and Germany before settling in Lawton/Fort Sill, OK. Judi worked closely with the churches and libraries during their marriage, which ended in 1987. After making her home in Lawton, she volunteered for the American Red Cross until being hired for a position with the Comanche County Chapter of the American Red Cross, where she served as the Chapter Manager from March 1984 – July 1991. During her time as Chapter Manager, she was responsible for fundraising. She chose Aids Awareness and other causes to support. She would take a position in Florence, SC, as the Chapter Manager in 1991 but would return to Lawton to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. The family moved to Colorado Springs in 2000. In Colorado, Judi worked at Fort Carson, CO, supporting the Army in the Maintenance Department and retired in 2003.
After retirement, Judi volunteered with the Security Library and made beautiful quilts for children through Quilts from the Heart. She had many hobbies throughout the years. She enjoyed reading, square dancing, bowling, gardening, and making beautiful quilts, of which many family and friends were the beneficiaries. She enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances and George Stoltz.
Survivors include her daughter Lisa and Gary of Clarkston, MI, son Brian Sims of Williston, SC; a brother, George Michael Stoltz and Jenel of New Port Richey, FL; two grandsons: Brett Hanley and Angela of Lake Orion, MI, and Kyle Jones and Courtney of Lake Orion, MI. And great-grandchildren - Eva, Braedyen, MacKenzie, Jaxson, Dalton, and Sawyer.
An interment service will be held later in Barnwell, SC, at the family plot. In lieu of flowers or cards please consider donating to The Alzheimer’s Foundation in remembrance of Judi.
