

Ms. Dakin passed away after a long battle with cancer. Karin was born to Alfons & Maria (Simon) Odparlik, in Gleiwitz O.S. Germany. After being a military family for 25yrs the Dakin’s settled in Fountain in 1985.
Karin was a wonderful mother and Omi. She loved her family dearly; she always made sure they had, even if she had to go without. She took in everyone and treated them as her own. The “Dakin” house was always full of people, no matter how crowded, she made the best of it. She loved Christmas, she always went over the top, nobody went without, not even last minute guests. Cooking & Baking German dishes, sewing were some of her passions, although she was best known for her Rose Garden.
Ms. Dakin spent the last 22yrs as Long Haul Truck Driver/Owner-Operator of KMD Express. Karin worked for the Department of Defense as a Cashier for Fort Carson Commissary, Fort Carson, CO (85-90) & Pond Barracks Commissary, Amberg, Germany (81-85). Karin wore many hats in her life; nurse, cashier, Girl Scout Leader, the most important was the proud matriarch of her family.
Ms. Dakin is survived by daughters, Angelika (Kenneth) McAbee of Hampton, VA; Veronika (Jerry) Wilcox of Newport News, VA; Annabell Jacox (Scotty Loper), Katharina Monski, Natascha (Rodney) Lightfoot, Christina (David) Romanik and son Richard (Jennifer) Dakin all of Fountain, Colorado. Grandchildren: Shawn, Sara, Cathy, Kenny (Amanda), Kevin, Brandon (Ambrozha), Jason, Nathan, Anthony (Marlene), Ashley, Angie, Jessica, Christopher, Re’Chante, Elizabeth (David), Michael, Antonio, Aden and Audriaunna. Great-Grandchildren: Patrick, Angel, Joey, Lexy, Alicia, Tristan, Iyanna, Brennen, Dontrell, Quincy and Hayden . Sister; Delinda (Joseph) Pruessner of Northeim, Germany; many nieces, nephews and cousins in Germany; Cousin; Joseph (Inga) Simon of Salmon Arms, BC; and many Family and Friends all over the USA and Europe.
Mom will be dearly missed by so many, she was “Mom” to everyone who knew her, she loved doing things for everyone, you knew she always wanted the best for you and loved you.
Karin was preceded in death by her father, mother, sister Helga, brother Dietmar and friend/ex-husband Emery E Dakin.
Funeral Services will be held at Dove Witt Funeral Home on Hwy 85/87 in Fountain on 02/14/14 at 1pm followed by graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery in Fountain. Viewing is on 02/13/14 from 5-8pm.
