Mary Louise Rodriguez, 69, a resident of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away on June 4, 2026. Born March 1, 1957, Mary Louise will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew her.
In her early years, Mary Louise met Johnny Ornelas as a teenager. In the seasons that followed, she traveled and built her life with steady determination—approaching each day with patience, strength, and a quiet, thoughtful resolve that others came to rely on.
Mary Louise was known as a hard-working woman who took pride in providing for those she loved. She worked as a cashier at the commissary on Fort Carson, serving her community with consistency and care.
Mary Louise’s greatest devotion was to her family. She is survived by her ex. husband, Johnny Ornelas; her three daughters, Loretta, Olivia, and Marlaina; six grandchildren Ricardo Ortivez Jr., Selina Ortivez, Romeo Ortivez, Juan Obregon, Leticia Obregon, and Javier Obregon; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven sisters; and two brothers. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Mary and Albert Saiz.
Those closest to Mary Louise knew that her love was practical as well as heartfelt—shown in the way she made room for others, and in the way she stayed present through life’s ordinary and difficult moments alike. She was always there for her family, and she opened her home to Marlaina, which is how she became a sister to Loretta and Olivia. Her girls were her world. Mary Louise and Olivia were best friends, always there for each other.
Mary Louise also found enjoyment in collecting nice things, appreciating the beauty and meaning found in what she chose to keep and cherish.
The family wishes to express sincere gratitude for Olivia’s care, and to Johnny and Jackie Ornelas, as well as Mary Louise’s best friend, Marsha, for their support and kindness.
Mary Louise had a favorite saying—“whatever”—a simple phrase that, in her hands, could soften a moment, settle a worry, or gently remind others to keep going. Her memory will remain in the lives she touched, the home she made, and the steadfast love she gave.
