Michael Magner was born on February 4, 1984 in the San Juan mountains above Española, NM and passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2025 in Colorado Springs, CO. The suddenness of his death at a young age has been very hard for his family, and he will be greatly missed.
Michael spent his early years in New Mexico, before moving to Arizona briefly, and then Colorado for much of his life. Colorado was a beloved place to him. Michael went on many outdoor adventures with his mother, such as Crested Butte and Maroon Bells. He enjoyed spending time in quiet places outside: camping, collecting stones and crystals, hiking, observing plants and animals, and admiring nature’s beauty.
Michael had a keen intelligence and deep curiosity about the world, and was a voracious reader. He loved learning about a wide variety of topics, whether it was dinosaurs or bugs as a kid to alternative energy and health as an adult.
Michael had a sense of adventure, earnestness, and a playful heart that was born in his childhood and remained with him well into adulthood. He was a uniquely authentic human. Despite the many challenges he faced, he maintained an admirable sweetness, sense of humor, and hopefulness.
Throughout much of his life, Michael had a connection with God and to what is true and good. He connected to the Great Creator through drumming, chanting, and praying. His pure heart was often able to shine through his difficulties, which at times became reflections for those close to him and offered opportunities for growth.
He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willa Marie and Howard Magner, and his maternal grandparents, Betty and Al Kula.
He is survived by his mother, Lila McClellan, and her husband, John McClellan; his father, Kent Magner, and his wife, Eyahnna Dalbo; his sister, Kristy Magner, and her partner, Timothy Guida; and his sister, Tara Dalbo and her partner, Michael Rohner.
Michael’s family asks that you spend a moment in nature in his honor.
