Nancy had a lifelong love for flowers and spent many years working as a florist. She also worked in security for many years, where she was respected for her dedication and hard work. Nancy also found joy in cooking, painting, making jewelry, and gathering with friends and family. Some of her happiest memories were made on the water, and she loved sharing stories of boating on Lake Champlain. She shared her creativity and warmth generously, leaving behind countless memories of laughter, good meals, and handmade treasures.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Karl Markes of New York; her sister, Carol Deshaies of New York; and her nephew, Brent Deshaies of New York.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Beth Erdmann of Colorado; her son, James Boyd of Washington; her grandchildren, Laura Kiefer and Alex Erdmann of Colorado; her great-granddaughter, Avery Kiefer of Colorado; and her nephews, Kirk Deshaies and Eric Deshaies of New York.
Nancy’s family and friends will remember her for her kindness, her creativity, and the love she poured into everything she did. We were blessed to have shared her journey for as long as we did. Her selflessness, determination, and unwavering spirit will continue to uplift us. Though her passing marks a new chapter, her impact remains profound. Grief may come in waves; it is tempered by cherished memories. She will be deeply missed, but her love will never fade.
In keeping her wishes, Nancy will be cremated, and no formal services will be held. The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care and support in making her transition of life smoother.
