Peg’s early years were shaped by learning and service. She graduated from Shaler High School, where she was a choir member, and she gave her time as a youth camp leader—already showing the steady care and devotion to others that would define her life.
Peg attended college, earned a nursing professional degree, and served as a nurse for more than 20 years. Her work reflected both a tender heart and a strong mind—qualities that remained constant as her path evolved. In recent years, she earned a criminal justice degree and worked in the security field, meeting each responsibility with courage, clear purpose, and a calm determination.
Peg was married to Jim Mesco for 42 years. Together, Peg and James Mesco built a life rooted in commitment and steadfast love. While James served overseas with the USAF, Peg raised their daughter, Tiffany, born in 1986, with strength and resolve. In time, Peg became “Grandma” to Shawn and Aliyah, and she helped raise them with the same devoted care that she offered so naturally to those she loved. She also faithfully cared for her disabled mother until her mother’s passing—an enduring reflection of Peg’s giving spirit and unwavering loyalty.
Peg’s service extended beyond home and career. She was a volunteer firefighter in South Dakota, where she fought many wildland fires and provided first aid to injured firefighters, meeting urgent moments with bravery and a steady, helping presence. She also invested in young lives as a Little League and T-ball coach, offering encouragement with the friendliness and warmth so many came to know in her.
Peg found joy in creativity and community. She was a member of the Centennial IPMS plastic model builders, and she enjoyed ceramics and photography—pursuits that suited her patient hands and thoughtful eye. She was known for staying positive-minded and for being especially friendly to four-footed friends, giving a loving home to rescue dogs and cats.

Peg’s words and example will remain close to those who loved her: “Always remember to be kind, helpful, and open minded to everyone.”
