Robert served in the United States Army from January 1982 to January 1985 as a telecommunication center operator. In recognition of his discipline and dedication, he received Expert Badges for the M-16 Rifle and Hand Grenade, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Army Commendation Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He later worked at Home Depot, where his steady work ethic and thoughtful way of helping others shone through as he assisted people with their home projects.
Robert was married to Mary Mullen. He is survived by his sons, Tony Friend and Christopher Friend, and by his brothers, David, Scott, Allan, and Mark Friend. Throughout his life, he remained devoted to those he loved, and he will be deeply missed by the family who cherished him.
A man of quiet courage and faithful presence, Robert will be remembered for the compassion he showed so naturally—care that was practical, steady, and sincere. He was also known for a fun-loving spirit that brought warmth to everyday moments, especially in the time he and Mary spent together on their many fishing adventures.
Robert found joy in fishing, hunting, hiking, working on projects, and photography—interests that reflected both his hard-working nature and his appreciation for the world around him. His legacy lives on in the love he gave, the help he offered freely, and the devotion he showed to family and friends.
The family would like to thank all of Robert’s family and friends who were there to support him at the end, and for all the love that you showed him.
Those of us that know him know that he is fishing in heaven.
