Robert "Bob" Arthur Katz
February 9, 1937 – January 3, 2020
Robert (Bob) Katz was born on February 09, 1937 to Paul and Lillian Katz in Huron, South Dakota. He was blessed with 8 siblings; Donald, Francis, Verla, Dolores, Phyllis, Eugene, Alan and Baby Nancy.
He grew up like any country boy hunting, fishing and loving the outdoors. He would sneak away to fish or hunt whenever he could-even skipping school to do it!
Bob eventually joined the Army to serve his country. He became a Tank Commander and served in the Vietnam War. He earned several medals; National Defense Service, Vietnam Service with 5 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign w/60 Devise, Combat Infantryman, Good Conduct and of course The Purple Heart. Thank you Bob, Dad, Grandpa for your service to all. We are so proud!
While stationed in Germany, Bob met and married the love of his life, Christina on February 01, 1957. They raised 4 wonderful children; Robert, Alan, Mary and Steven. Bob was such a loving Husband, Father and Grandpa. He is affectionately known as "Buddy", "Opa", or "Grandpa". Later on when his boys and his grandsons started hunting with him, they named him the "Grand Pooba"!
Bob was all about his family! He spent a lot of time with his children and grandchildren-always worrying about them all being taken care of. He really enjoyed going camping, fishing and hunting with the family including his kids and their families. When it came to hunting, Bob was a 'crack shot"- he could pick off a honey bee on a branch with one eye closed! He loved to fish too. He fished for many years in Walleye Fishing Tournaments. He was known as one of the best Walleye Jigging Fisherman in Colorado!
Bob had the greatest sense of humor. He had more funny jokes than you could ever imagine. You always knew when he was getting ready to tell a new joke by that famous smirk on his face! We will miss that so much....
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Lillian Katz, Donald Katz (Brother), Francis Wulf (Sister), Verla Teply (Sister), Dolores Stoppelmore (Sister), Alan Katz (Brother) and Baby Nancy (Sister).
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Christina, Robert and Barbara Katz (Son), Alan and Hope Katz (Son), Mary Jordon and Dan Butler (Daughter), Steven and Linda Katz (Son), 12 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.
Bob will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but especially by his family. He loved with all of his heart and even though we cannot physically see him, we feel his love wrapping around us from above.
