

At the age of 18 he left New Orleans and joined the United States Air Force. He spent 26+ years traveling globally and retired in 1979 as CSMgt. While on his first assignment to England he met the love of his life, Shirley. They were married 65 years and have four children.
Ronald’s surviving family are Michael Brondum (Becky), Mark Brondum, Susan Barbosa (Joe), Daryl Brondum (Wendy), Brenda (West) Brondum, niece Gwendolyn Hager of Metairie, LA and John Smith (Carol) of Ipswich, England, seven grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Shirley, parents Larse and Veronica Brondum, sister June Hager and her husband Joe Hager, and son in law Robert Pettis, III.
In Ronald’s 92 years of life, he was honored to have served in the United States Air Force. In his free time he enjoyed riding motorcycles with his sons and grandchildren. Occasionally relishing in a solo ride to some of Colorado’s hot springs locations. Ronald enjoyed watching professional sports. However, his greatest joy came from watching the youthful members of his family play, grow and succeed in their life endeavors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation; the Cancer Foundation of your choice and the Humane Society of Colorado Springs.
He will be laid to rest at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, Colorado Springs, CO
A celebration of Ronald’s life will be held on Friday, May 1, 2026 at 1pm at Pikes Peak National Cemetery
