Sharon J Gayle, of Fountain, Colorado, passed away on September 30, 2026 at the age of 75. Born and raised in Rahway, New Jersey on November 16, 1950, Sharon carried forward a steady strength and quiet wisdom that shaped a life defined by devotion to family, and thoughtful generosity. She was deeply cherished, and her presence will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know and love her.
Sharon graduated from Rahway High School in 1968. Over the years her hard work and sense of responsibility guided her through a career marked by dedication and perseverance. She served for over 20 years with the Director of Public Works in which she retired at Fort Carson in 2016.
Throughout her life, Sharon’s compassion was most clearly seen in the care she gave so freely—especially as she lovingly cared for her father, her husband, and her grandson after her years of retirement.
A devoted wife of 55 years, Sharon shared a lasting marriage with Robert Gayle. She was a loving mother to four children: Robin Gayle-Johnson, Terry Gayle, Dawn Gayle,-Gideon, and Shawn Gayle (Alana). She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ethreba Crawley, and by her mother-in-law, Florence Romas. She was the oldest of six siblings, Sharon is survived by her sisters Adrienne Crawley and Ethreba (Muffy) Moore, and her brother-in-law Larry Moore.
Sharon was Blessed to have 18 grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally: Davion, Kalesha, Kaniya, Tyshawn, Dalen, Tyrese, Mya, Darnell, Darneisha, Ani-Jay, Devin, Rashawna, Destinee, Maryanah, Meesha, Chucky, Tiny, and Emmie. She was also surrounded in life by numerous great-grandchildren: Jurnee, Jalia, Amara, Ky'Aire, Tori, Kalaya, Khasii, Ka'Neesha, and Laylana.
Sharon’s generous spirit extended well beyond her home. She loved to give back to various organizations, offering her time and support with a sincere and thoughtful heart. She found joy in arts and crafts, sewing, crocheting, cooking, baking, shopping, traveling, and—most of all—spending time with family. Her love to travel was well known, and one phrase captured her eagerness to be on the move: “When we leaving?” She especially loved to go to Las Vegas.
Sharon leaves behind lots of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember her with gratitude and affection. Her legacy is one of steadfast love, compassionate care, and a life lived with purpose—marked by the kind of wisdom that comforts, the kind of devotion that endures, and the kind of generosity that continues to inspire.
