After a stint in the Navy, where he became a Vietnam Veteran, he went back to his Native American roots and became a surveyor. He loved the outdoors and hiked every chance he got. Toward the end he talked about getting a kayak. He was proudest of his independence and building many houses in the Fort Collins area. He loved to tell a tale to anyone that would listen. His favorite country overseas was Japan and he hoped to go back someday. He was a hard worker and loved to get his hands dirty; it could be automobiles, small engines, remodels, bikes or any odd job. He also loved to ride his bike and was very active with his church.
Stuart is survived by his brother Ed TuQwanac, sister Jeanneatte T. Nitzberg, and younger brother Matthew Vigil, nine children and 15 grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Cordelia P. Vigil; father Art Sanchez; Stepfather Edward G. Vigil and his first wife Wanda Etters.
