Terry Charles Johnson, 77, of Fountain, Colorado, passed away on May 25, 2026. Born November 23, 1948, Terry lived a life marked by steady dedication, faithful service, and a deep appreciation for the simple, enduring pleasures that make a home and a community.
Terry served in the United States Air Force from February 27, 1969, to January 14, 1982. His duty stations took him across the world and throughout the United States, including Vietnam, Turkey, England, Alaska, Oregon, Montana, and Colorado—assignments that reflected a career grounded in commitment and readiness wherever he was needed. Following his military service, he continued his work in support of mission and country through the Air Force & Space Command mission from January 15, 1982, to May 31, 2004. In Mission Support Civil Engineering at NORAD and in DOD Civil Service, he earned recognition for his leadership and diligence, including the Chief of Planning Contract Management award on December 30, 1991. Terry also worked at Pikes Peak International Raceway and The Broadmoor World Arena, bringing the same dependable work ethic to every role he held.
In retirement, Terry found contentment in the routines and pastimes he loved: feeding and watching the birds, enjoying racing—both live and televised—following sports, competing at Angry Birds, and settling in with old movies. These interests reflected a man who valued both spirited competition and quiet moments, and who knew how to take genuine enjoyment in the everyday.
Terry was also a committed member of organizations that fostered fellowship and service, including the Masonic Lodge, Al Kaly Shire, and Royal Jesters. He took pride in pursuits that brought people together, and he was honored with a “Best of Show” award for his entry in a Harley Davidson competition in Colorado Springs.
Terry is survived by his spouse, Linda Sholes Johnson, Fountain, Colorado; his children, Jeremiah Sholes Johnson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Dezaray Sholes Astorga (Anthony) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and his grandchildren, William Charles Sholes Astorga and Willow Jean Sholes Astorga of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is also survived by his siblings, Teena Goodwin (Twin sister) of Fruitland, Idaho, Debbie (Kevin) Balls of Boise, Idaho, Dave (Kathy) Johnson of Crown Point, Indiana, and Joe (JoAnn) Johnson of Boise, Idaho. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, OC and June Johnson.
