Vaughn Beckerman

Vaughn Marie Beckerman, 91, Colorado Springs, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023. She was born on October 1, 1931, in Dodge City, Kansas. She grew up on the family farm in Copeland, Kansas and graduated from Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas in 1954. She was a teacher at Fowler High School before marrying George J. Beckerman on August 23, 1955 in Fowler, Kansas. Vaughn and George moved to Colorado Springs in 1955 and raised their family in Security/Widefield and Fountain.

Vaughn was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde Russell Reed and Grace Denney Reed, husband George, and son, David Wayne. She is survived by her children, Georgia Marie (David), Daniel Lee, Dale Russell (Christy), and Ann Louise; grandchildren Brianne Everest, Jenna Beckerman-Harrison, and John Beckerman; and great grandchildren, Jacob, Helia, and Greta.

Vaughn was an accomplished pianist, seamstress, and gardener. She produced many beautiful pieces of embroidery and crewel work and passed those skills on to her daughters. She baked desserts from scratch every day while raising her five children. She also volunteered with the Pikes Peak Library District and the Security Library.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm at Dove-Witt Family Mortuary, 6630 US Highway 85/87 Fountain, CO 80817. Funeral services and burial will be held at a later date in Copeland, Kansas.
