

Fondly known as Sandy, he was born to Alexander Charles and Theresa Sagun on March, 2 1944 in Queens, New York. While still a child, he moved with his family to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, where he later became a high school athlete, playing basketball and baseball for the Lewisburg Green Dragons. Sandy was recruited to play basketball for the University of South Carolina, where he played before transferring to Penn State University for his junior and senior years. He was an active member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and graduated from Penn State in 1965 with a BS in Business Administration.
After graduation, Sandy began his career as a controller for Sears, Roebuck and Company and spent over 15 years at locations in New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Lancaster, PA. He then transitioned to the home building business in Spotsylvania, Virginia where he founded Sagun Homes and became one of the first Signature Builders in the expansive Fawn Lake Community. As such, he was a long-standing member of the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association and served on the Architectural Review / Compliance Committee and the Finance Committee for the Fawn Lake Community Association. During his tenure at Fawn Lake, he constructed over 100 beautiful custom homes and earned the respect of the industry’s professionals and homeowners.
Sandy was passionate about Penn State Football, playing golf, family investing, and caring for their lawn. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary Ann. They explored several states and countries and were fond of spending time with their families and grandchildren in the south of France, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Sandy is survived by Mary Ann, his loving wife of 39 years, as well as children, Michael Sagun (Cathy), Kristin Sagun (Maureen), and Bruce Gunther (Tricia). He also leaves his beloved grandchildren Alexandre Sagun (Deborah), Ella-Mae Sagun, and Liza-Marie Sagun of France, Jacob Gunther and Joshua Gunther of Virginia. This past April he proudly celebrated the birth of his great-grandson, Ethan Sagun of France. Sandy is also survived by his sister-in-law Suzanne Moore, brother-in-law, Kenneth Moore of PA, brother, Thomas Sagun of Virginia, sister, Kathryn Sagun of Arizona, three nieces and a nephew. He is predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Theresa Sagun.
The family will announce a future date of the hosting of a Celebration of Life Ceremony at the Fawn Lake Country Club.
