

Newton was born on September 21, 1928. He was the son of the late James and Annie Williams. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Whitfield and Robert Williams, and a sister who passed away as a child, Virgie.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley E. Williams of Spotsylvania; his children Beverly W. Payne of Spotsylvania, Alfred Newton Williams II, and Barbara J. Williams both Stafford; brother, Kenny Williams; three sisters, Mabel Colbert, Peggy Jett, and Callie Jett all of Stafford; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
He was a carpenter, builder, waterman, and farmer. He was an honorary member of White Oak Fire Dept. for his work in building the station. He loved to camp, fish, and hunt. He led a working man’s life. He was a member of the Patowomeck Indian Tribe of Stafford and a member of Fletcher’s Chapel.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 20, 2010 from 6-8:00 PM at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 12:00 PM at New Hope Cemetery.
