April Ruth Harlowe

April Ruth Harlowe, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of deep faith, passed away at her home in Colonial Beach, VA, on June 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving husband and granddaughter. She was 64 years old.

Born on April 19, 1961, in Ackerman, Mississippi, April lived a life rooted in love and unwavering faith in God. Her strength came from her deep spirituality, which she carried with grace through every season of life. She cherished her family above all else and found her greatest joy in being a mother and grandmother.

April is survived by her beloved husband, James; daughters Amy Shifflett, Jamie Fleischer (Warren), and Jenna Kane (RJ); grandchildren Daisy, Jade, Gabriel, Warren, David Samuel, Luke, Ryan, Aiden, and Andrew; and sisters Joy Doyle and Melony Olmstead (Alan). She is also remembered by many other dear family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James Earl and Mae Nell Martin; her grandson David Andrew Bloom; her sister Kathy Russell; and her brother James Martin.

A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on July 12th at Choice Baptist Church, 16 Burton Loop, Fredericksburg, VA 22406, with a reception to follow.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing she is at peace in the presence of her Savior.
