Archie Kimbrough Crawford Sr

Archie Kimbrough Crawford Sr., 89 of Partlow took the next step into his life on Monday, August 22, 2022 Spotsylvania VA. Archie was born in 1933 in Shores, VA, to the late Joseph Pressley and Clara Russie Crawford. He served in Korea in 1953 and 1954 with the U.S. Army. Archie married his wife Margaret on November 21, 1957 in Prince Georges County, Maryland, and celebrated their 64th Wedding Anniversary on November 11, 2021.

Archie was a Wrestling Coach for 25 years, working with youth and High School ages. He started two wrestling programs, one in Maryland, and the other in Virginia. Both programs are still active to date, one for 42 years, the other for 33 years. Many of his Wrestlers have won Virginia, Maryland, National Prep Championships, and All American Honors in College.

Archie was a Hall of Fame Boxer, boxing out of the Alexandria Boys Club. He also wrestled, and was Captain of the 1950-1951 Augusta Military Academy (AMA) Team.

He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; three sons, Ernest and wife Denise, Lee, and Kirk and partner Jacqueline; six grandchildren, Crystal, Kirk Jr, Brian and wife Courtney, Ashley, Danielle, Archie III, and wife Cheyenne, and 9 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded by a son, Archie Jr; four sisters; and three brothers.

The family will receive friends at Mullins and Thompson Funeral Service, 1621 Emancipation Hwy, Fredericksburg, VA on Tuesday, August 30th from 6-8pm, with a service of remembrance at 7:00 pm. Interment will be held Wednesday, August 31 at 11:30am in Quantico National Cemetery, with a funeral procession leaving the funeral home to Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, VA. at 10:30am. For those traveling directly to Quantico, please wait at the office/parking area upon entering the gate.
