Born on October 11, 1943, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Bernadette was the beloved daughter of Francis and Mary Latteri. At a young age, her family moved to New York, where she was raised and spent most of her life. A woman of deep faith, Bernadette attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school and graduated from Saint Pius High School in the Bronx in June 1962.
Soon after graduation, Bernadette met the love of her life, Richard Coletti. The two married in 1966 and made their home in the Bronx, where they raised their daughter, Rosemary.
Bernadette built a distinguished career in the financial industry, working on Wall Street for more than three decades. She joined Chase Manhattan Bank in 1968 and served as a Securities Specialist until 1999. She then continued her career with the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation as a First Associate until her retirement in 2006 at the age of 63. Retirement did not slow her down. Always energetic and eager to stay engaged, Bernadette began a second career in retail, working as a Customer Service Representative for Sears, Roebuck and Company from 2006 to 2019. At age 76, she finally stepped away from the workforce to enjoy a more relaxed pace of life.
In 2020, Bernadette moved from New York to Virginia to be closer to her daughter and family. True to her active nature, she quickly sought out opportunities to give back and became a dedicated volunteer at Mary Washington Hospital, where she served from 2021 until 2026.
Bernadette lived a life defined by faith, kindness, generosity, and love. Her love language was gift-giving, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate others with a thoughtful card, a carefully chosen present, or a simple gesture that let people know they were remembered and cherished. Whether family, friends, neighbors, or acquaintances, everyone who crossed Bernadette's path felt the warmth of her caring spirit.
Nothing meant more to Bernadette than her family. She devoted herself wholeheartedly to her daughter, Rosemary, providing a loving home and every opportunity for success. She supported Rosemary's education from Catholic elementary school through college and enthusiastically encouraged her figure skating journey from the age of two. When Rosemary married Troy Grant, Bernadette welcomed him as a son and loved him deeply. She was heartbroken by his passing in 2020.
Becoming a grandmother brought Bernadette immense joy. She treasured every moment spent with her grandson, Xavier, showering him with unconditional love, encouragement, and affection. Her greatest happiness came from watching her family grow and flourish.
A true social butterfly, Bernadette made friends wherever she went. She loved gathering with loved ones, dining out, trying her luck at the casino, and traveling, especially on cruises throughout the Caribbean. Her vibrant personality, generous heart, and unwavering devotion to those she loved created countless cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Bernadette is survived by her half-brother, Alexander Latteri; her daughter, Rosemary Coletti Grant; and her beloved grandson, Xavier Grant. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Mary Latteri; her husband, Richard Coletti; and her son-in-law, Troy Grant.
