Betty Welch Miller

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Homer and Flora Welch; and her husband of 47 years, Jacob John Miller, Jr.

She is survived by her two daughters, Pamela Smith (son-in-law Alan) and Kim Wright (son-in-law Carter); her five grandchildren, Ryan, Kyle and Erin Smith and Olivia and Elizabeth Wright; and her loving dog, Buttons.

Betty was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. After high school, she attended secretarial school and worked for the department of Agricultural in Washington DC. After marrying and having her children, she and John settled in Virginia Beach, VA where she worked part time as a church secretary while raising her daughters.

She loved to read, play tennis and bridge, go to the beach and spend time with her many friends and family. She was an avid gardener; she loved flowers and frequently won her neighborhood “yard of the month” award. She spent most of her adult life as an active member of the United Methodist Women at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Virginia Beach and Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Stafford, VA.

A private celebration of life will be held at Mercy Hill Community Church, Fredericksburg, VA.
