

Mr. Duke was a 1959 graduate of N.C. State University and worked at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia, until his retirement after 34 years. He then worked for five years at EG&G Services at Dahlgren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carlton W. Duke, Sr. and his mother, Miriam T. Coleman.
He is survived by his wife, Jacquelin Miller Duke, daughter, Susan Leigh Duke, and partner, Patricia Baltazar, son, Charles Carson Duke and wife, Gerri, granddaughter, Maria E. Duke, and grandson, Benjamin W. Duke, brother, Dr. William B. Duke (Kathy) and family, aunt, Virginia D. Perry, stepbrothers, John A. Coleman (Elaine) and Wiley G. Coleman (Mary) and families, sister-in-law, Carolyn M. Lewis and brother-in-law, Charles A. Miller and family, cousins, Raymond L. Duke, Jr., Juel W. Duke and Sandra D. Stokes.
Carlton took great care of his family and extended family, and his greatest joy was spending time with them. He had many interests, including woodworking, golf, cooking and photography, most recently photographing osprey and eagles nesting, and tracking the young ones through adulthood.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, Virginia. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
