

She was born October 8 in Fort Dodge, Iowa. She attended Iowa State Teachers College and worked as a post librarian at Camp Carson in Colorado before moving to Massachusetts to work as a clerk at Lawrence Manufacturing at which time she met her husband of 45 years, George. Constance worked as a clerk at the Internal Revenue Service in Andover for many years until her retirement. Constance was a devoted wife and mother, as well as a faithful member of West Chelmsford United Methodist Church (WCUMC) in Chelmsford. She was a voracious reader and loved traveling throughout her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Sydney Peters; two sisters, Winifred and Maxine; and two brothers, Melvin and Reginald.
Survivors include a son, Jonathan Peters, of Euless, Texas; a daughter, Marianne Strafer and her husband, John, of Fredericksburg; four grandchildren, Julie Cooper and her husband, Jeff; Elliot Gardner; David Strafer; and Bridget; and five great grandchildren with whom she cherished time spent.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, December 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Constance’s family would like to thank her many caring doctors, nurses, and home caregivers, especially Kim, whose enthusiasm was a great encouragement during Constance’s brief illness; and both her Trinity Episcopal Church family in Fredericksburg and WCUMC family for their thoughtful calls, prayers, and many cards.
