Cynthia Juanita Day was born to the late William O. and Alice I. Day on May 24, 1952 in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She grew up in Locust Grove, Virginia, was educated in Orange County Public Schools and graduated from Orange County High School. Cynthia transitioned to be with our heavenly father on January 17, 2021 at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.
Cynthia accepted Christ at an early age and joined Pilgrim Baptist Church in Locust Grove, Virginia. She was a faithful and active member serving on various committees, boards, and choirs to include, The Deaconess Board, Senior Choir, Mass Choir, Woman's Auxiliary, and Hospitality Committee. She was also an active member of the Walen Blue Ridge Association.
Upon retiring from her job of 18 years at Foodlion in Locust Grove, Virginia she decided to relocate to Bowling Green, Virginia with her son and daughter in law. She began living her best life as she told everyone.
She devoted her time as a caregiver to her great granddaughter known to most as Princess J'Laylianna. They were two peas in a pod, always running game on Paw Paw and Duchess. Poo enjoyed singing, dancing, playing games on her phone, Facebook, and traveling turned to her latest passion. If we said go, she was always the first at the door with her bags packed. She loved the beach and cruising as two of her favorite vacations.
After surviving a successful liver transplant and winning her battle with cancer she began to live life to the fullest. She started exercising and walking the neighborhood daily. She met several neighbors and became known as the "Sweet Lady". She enjoyed her walks and conversations with everyone leaving a mark on all that she came in contact with.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her daughter April Day; brothers Sylvester "Howard" Day, William "Bill" Day, and Ulysses "Champ" Day; and sister LaDrey Jasper.
Cynthia was an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She leaves to cherish her memories her son and daughter in love, Shawn "Baby Boy" and Deshawna Day; two grandchildren, JoKonya During (Juno) and JoHauna Cassanova (Daryn); two great grandchildren J'Laylianna During-McKnight and Danilo Cassanova; three sisters, Clarice Comfort, Ruth "Teenie" Cook, Alvira "Babysis" Flowers; three brothers, Leroy "Hooker" Day (Annette), Joseph "Rudy" Day (Bessie), and Vanice Pollard; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends to include her special friend Allen.
