Obituary of Delores Ann Smania
Delores Ann Smania, age 74, of Fredericksburg, VA passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 25, 1946 in Grethel, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Shadrick L. and Arietta (Saunders) Hall. She was a Budget Analyst for the Department of Defense. Survivors include her daughter, Deborah Frances Marchetti of Fredericksburg, VA; one son, Shadrach Leroy Ramsdell of Orange County, VA; one brother, Kelly J. Hall of Harrisburg, PA; three grandchildren, Seth A. Ramsdell, Michele L. Marchetti, and Teresa G. Marchetti. If any if you knew my Mom, Dee, you’d know she was one of a kind. She retired a GS-15 for the Department of the Navy. She was a budget analyst. Besides working hard on her career she was also a wonderful mother. My mom wasn’t only a great mom to her two children, Shad and Debbie, she was also known as the family’s lifeboat. She took in anyone that needed help. She has been my rock, my best friend, my confidant, my counselor and not to mention her best role as MOM. She never lacked on showing us just how much she loved my brother and I. Shad and Debbie grew up in Alexandria Va. Their Dad, James Ramsdell, Dees husband, and the love of her life was the stay home Dad for a while. We were blessed with two parents that loved us dearly. Shad, my brother, was the first to have a baby boy, Seth Ramsdell. Shortly after he was in a life altering car accident. My mom never gave up on him when he was in a coma, sat and prayed by his bedside. She just knew he’d pull through and sure enough, he came through. Shad and my Mom are two of the strongest people I know. Debbie then had in 1999, her first child, a boy, Michele Marchetti. Then four years later our baby girl, Teresa Marchetti. Mom (Gramma) was nothing but superb with all the grandchildren. Encouraging them with Sunday School and private School at Faith Baptist church and school for years. A retirement she became a Sunday School teacher and a teacher’s aid working closely with the children from Faith Baptist. She lived for her kids and grandkids. She would’ve moved mountains if she could’ve to make sure we were all taken care of. Dee suffered from COPD and congestive Heart Failure for the last years of her life suffering badly. She never complained, always encouraging us kids and grandkids to do good and be decent Christian human beings. I never knew how she was able to be so strong. She was never one to judge or look down on anyone. Her humble beginnings made her appreciate everything and everyone she came into contact with. I lost the best friend I could’ve ever asked for with her passing. She was the only person in the world I knew would never judge us, and always have deep unconditional love for everyone that came across her path. She Had a heart of Gold. Inam happy that she is in heaven now with no suffering. That makes us all at peace with her departure even though I know this will be a tough road without her. We will all miss you greatly Mom, You are loved by many and we shall see you one day on the other side. Rip Delores Anne Smania A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, May 22, 2021 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg with Pastor Watson Morgan officiating.
