Denise Marie Passagaluppi, affectionately known throughout her long and vibrant life as the French Ladybug, passed away on June 17, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on December 31, 1926, in France, Denise grew up in a family whose courage and conviction led them to take part in the French Resistance during World War II. Their bravery shaped her lifelong devotion to compassion, service, and resilience.
Denise came to the United States in 1944, carrying with her a beautiful French accent that remained one of her most cherished trademarks. She trained as a nurse, and built a life rooted in care and purpose, whose warmth and attentiveness touched countless lives.
She was the proud mother of five children and is survived by Thomas Passagaluppi, Robert Passagaluppi, and Lynn Mills, along with numerous grandchildren and great‑grandchildren who adored her deeply.
Known for her bubbly, affectionate personality, Denise had an extraordinary gift for remembering what others were going through—always asking, always caring, always listening. Even in her final days, she continued to check on the well‑being of those around her, offering comfort with the same gentle spirit she had shown all her life.
With the steadfast care of her son Tom and the support of dear friends, Denise was able to remain in the home she loved throughout her entire life, spending all 99 of her years—and her final moments—surrounded by familiar warmth.
Her legacy is one of courage, kindness, and unwavering love. She will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
