Dona Elen Grigg

Dona Elen Holmes Grigg, 87, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family. Elen was born in Pomona, California on August 11, 1931. She was a graduate of American University and went on to work for the Juvenile Division of the Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. Elen was an artist who enjoyed multimedia painting; her work was often displayed at Brush Strokes Gallery in downtown Fredericksburg. Elen was an avid reader and her day was not complete without reading the local paper. Elen and her late husband, Davis Ivan Grigg, relocated from California to Virginia in the 1970s. They eventually purchased a farm in Stafford County, which would become their family’s home place. They named it Lodi Farm and it remains sentimental for family and friends as many beloved memories were made on its acreage. Elen is preceded in death by her husband Davis Ivan Grigg who passed away in 1994. She is survived by her children, Michael Joseph (Leslie) Grigg, Melinda Davel Grigg, and Wesley Davis (Cynthia) Grigg; along with her sister, Lois Joy Hilgren; nieces; nephews; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday, July 30, 2019 at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A Graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at Quantico National Cemetery.
