

Edith Fern Hagy, 92, went to be with Our Lord on Friday, July 22, 2016, at her home in Stafford County, surrounded by all of her children. She was born May 22, 1924, in Hanger, Virginia, to Ishmael Ratliff, Sr. and Bertha Smith, and was raised in rural Southwest Virginia.
A mother of five and the wife of a career U.S Marine, she also worked outside of the home as an Executive House Keeper at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg, and at Prince William Hospital in Manassas before retiring with her late husband Frank Hagy in 1988. She was an active volunteer in the local community and worked for the Stafford County government, S.E.R.V.E., women ‘crisis center in Fredericksburg, the U.S. Naval hospital at Quantico, and she was a chief officer of the Tidewater District voting precinct. Edith and Frank were members of Mount Ararat Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Edith was proceeded in death by husband Frank Hagy, brothers Ish, Ike, Bill and FM, sisters, Jessie, Katherine, Ester, Virginia, Marie and Irene. She is survived by her five children; daughters, Sandra McLeish and husband David of Springfield, Massachusetts, Lynne Pearson and husband Sam of Katy, Texas, and Diane Morris and husband Keith of Culpeper, Virginia; and sons, James Hagy and wife Nancy of Apopka, Florida, and David Hagy and wife Annette of Richmond, Virginia. Also, two brothers James Ratliff and Milton Ratliff, and Sister Elizabeth Ratliff. She has 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, 26 July, 2016 at Mount Ararat Baptist Church in Garrisonville.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Edit Hagy's name to the Lottie Moon Missions Fund, or to Mary Washington Hospice, 5012 South Point Parkway, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Ararat Baptist Church on Tuesday July 26 at 4pm.
