08/24/1936-02/20/2026
Edward Eugene Williams, Sr. transitioned into glory on February 20 at the age of 89. He lived by a simple and unwavering calling: to love the Lord his God. His faith was the foundation of his life and the guiding force behind his service to others.
Edward was a loving husband, a devoted father to four children, and a proud grandfather to a quiver full of grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Ann Williams: his children, Debbie Brown (Ray), Peggy Kenworthy, Bonnie Vance (Joseph), Ed Williams, Jr, (Vallie), 12 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A devoted pastor, he spent his life ministering to those in need of hope, encouragement, and truth. His leadership extended beyond the pulpit through his time of service as President of the Fredericksburg Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship, where he faithfully encouraged men to live out their faith in both their personal and professional lives. He was a loyal friend and spiritual mentor to many; one did not spend much time in his presence without hearing the Scripture that guided his life:
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart and lean not on thine own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
— Proverbs 3:5–6
In addition to his ministry work, Edward was a respected businessman. He founded and operated Mt. Vernon House of Furniture in Alexandria, Virginia, and later Mt. Vernon Sleep Galleries in Fredericksburg, serving his community with integrity and dedication. After retirement, he delighted in life along the Potomac Creek, where he enjoyed fishing and tending his crab pots. In those quiet waters he found peace, reflection, and continued gratitude for God’s blessings.
Edward E. Williams, Sr. will be remembered for his steadfast faith, servant’s heart, and deep love for family and community. His life leaves a legacy of devotion, humility, and trust in the Lord that will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him.
